The Transcontinental

If my other blog could be less substantial than it already is, this is what it would look like.

And sometimes a cigar is just one of a number of phallic symbols

Observed today on Queen’s Park Crescent - Three men lighting up cigars moments before kick starting their Harley Davidsons.  Each wearing leather chaps, they spent most a good chunk of time sitting on their bikes, puffing away and ogling women.  The women generally looked away, although I found it hard not to look at them.

I can’t remember why I even started this blog!  But that was back in the days where I was posting like mad…in January.

A Minor Rant

work smarter, not harder  - this little trope has been kicking around for quite some time.   Its aphoristic quality hides its vapidity.

What is “working smarter”?  Do we think that for the whole sweep of human history, people have sat around finding ways to busy themselves through gruelling work, when it turns out they could have been doing something more easily?

Doesn’t the very idea of progress hinge on the possibility that people can find inventive, dare I say, “smart” solutions to problems?

So, casting away it’s tautological elements, it is just the old command - Work! with an existential twist for rhetorical effect.

A question

Tumblr doesn’t support comments - what do you think about that?  As always, your comments are welcome.

It’s kind of a shame that there are no comments here on tumblr - my last post probably would have been my most popular one to date.

Can you blame him?

Can you blame him?

Does this really make blogging any easier?
